Proud moment for IIT kanpur, Four of the top 75 scientists of the country are from IIT Kanpur.

Four of the top 75 scientists in the country are from IIT Kanpur. The four scientists below the age of 50 have revolutionized the development and technology of the country. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday released a book on 75 scientists at a function organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology. 

Prof.Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT congratulated the four scientists. He said it was a proud moment for the institute as IIT Kanpur was among the top 75 scientists in the country.


Who are the four IIT scientists-

1. Prof. Avinash Agarwal Senior Scientist Prof. 

Avinash Kumar Agarwal is working on fuel. Prof Agrawal was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 2016. Prof Agrawal is researching engine Combuston Investigation, Combuston Visibility, Biodiesel Development, Fuel Options, Direct Injection CNG, etc


2.Prof. Bushra Ateeq- 

Senior Scientist Prof. Bushra Ateeq has done research on cancer. He was also awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science in the year 2020. Prof. Bushra is working in the Department of Biological Science and Bio-Engineering of the Institute. Since joining IIT in 2013, she has been working on the cause and prevention of cancer. Several genes and cell disorders have been detected, leading to tumour-like conditions. The cause of prostate cancer in men has also been identified. In 2018, he was awarded the CNR Rao Faculty Award.


3. Prof. Sachchidanand Tripathi-  

Senior Scientist Prof. Sachchidanand Tripathi is doing research on aerosol and pollution. He has received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 2014, UP Ratna in 2018 and the Institute of Advanced Sustainability Studies Fellowship from Germany. Prof Tripathi is working on increasing pollution in Delhi and has developed a low-cost sensor. Apart from PM 2.5, other pollutants can also be monitored. "Besides the smoke from industry and vehicles in Delhi, research has also shown that food being cooked in power plants, restaurants and hotels is also contributing to pollution."


4.Prof. Nitin Saxena Senior Scientist Prof.-  

Nitin Saxena is doing research on Computers and Mathematics. Saxena was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred with Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award. Prof. Nitin Saxena is also a recipient of Young Scientist Award.
