In the coming months, 5G services will be operational in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also assured that 5G will be launched soon in India. But did you know that in the first phase, only 5G services will be launched in 13 cities?
Soon, 5G services will be live in India. Reliance Jio and Airtel are expected to launch 5G services in India by the end of this month.
5G will be 10 times faster than 4G -
According to the latest reports, the Indian government will officially launch 5G at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) on September 29. Recently, PM Modi said that 5G will be launched in India as soon as possible. The speed of 5G will be 10 times faster than 4G, he added.
5G services will be launched in 13 cities -
It was also reported that 5G services will be rolled out in a phased manner and during this period only select cities will enjoy fast-speed internet service.
In the first phase, only 5G services will be launched in 13 cities. Lets take a look at the list of cities:
1. Ahmedabad
2. Bangaluru
3. Chandigarh
4. Chennai
5. Delhi
6. Gandhi Nagar
7. Jamnagar
8. Kolkata
9. Lucknow
10. Mumbai
11. Pune
12. Gurugram
13. Hyderabad
Now, does this mean that all people living in these cities will get access to 5G services on first-time toll-out? No, that is not necessary. Telecom companies can give access up to 5G in selected areas of these cities.
Last week, Telecom Minister Ashwani Vaishnav had asked telecom service providers to prepare for 5G launches after issuing the spectrum allotment letter। The Telecom Minister said that spectrum assignment letter has been issued and TSPs have been requested to prepare for 5G launches. Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Adani Data Networks and Vodafone Idea have been the successful bidders in the recent 5G spectrum auctions.
