Uttar Pradesh Election Results 2022 LIVE Updates: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to return to power in the state as the party crossed the halfway mark in the initial phase of counting on Thursday. This will be the first time since 1985 that a ruling party will return to power in the state. Yogi Adityanath is all set to become the first chief minister of the state to return to power after a full five-year tenure.
In Gorakhpur, the home turf of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the BJP is leading in all the nine assembly seats, including the Chilupur seat, where the BSP won the 2017 elections. Campierganj, Piperach, Gorakhpur rural, Gorakhpur urban, Intuitive, Treasure, BJP candidates are leading in all the nine seats, including Chauri-Chaura and Bansgaon, The ruling BJP is in power in the state capital Lucknow, Lucknow is trailing in three seats including Central and Mohanlalganj. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading in three seats.
Yogi Adityanath was leading by nearly 31,000 votes from Gorakhpur urban seat. According to the Election Commission's latest data, Adityanath got 47,427 votes while his nearest rival, the Samajwadi Party's Subhati Shukla, got 16,427 votes.

In UP, the Congress was reduced to 1 seat and 2.4% of the vote share from 7 seats and 6% of the vote share-
With seven seats and nearly six per cent vote share, the Congress has been reduced to just one seat and 2.4 per cent of the vote share in the 403-seat UP assembly elections.
BJP retains power in UP-
By 1.30 pm, the BJP was leading in 267 seats. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party was leading in 131 seats. The Congress was leading in only one seat and the BSP in two.
BJP leading in 3 seats in Lucknow-
In the state capital Lucknow, the ruling BJP is trailing in three seats Lucknow North, Lucknow Central and Mohanlalganj. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading in three seats.
In Lucknow North, SP candidate Pooja Shukla has taken a lead of over 22,000 votes against sitting BJP MLA Neeraj Bora. Shukla is a former student leader and the leader of SP's Yuvajan Sabha, making his debut in mainstream politics.
In the 2017 elections, the BJP had won eight seats in the district, while the SP had won one seat in Mohanlalganj. Former MP Sushila Saroj is leading by a margin of over 2,000 votes as the SP candidate.
